Year-end accounts and company tax returns.

Annual accounts, the Company Tax Return and a plain-English explanation of what the figures mean for you.

GS Associates prepares year-end accounts for small limited companies, sole traders and partnerships from our Uttoxeter office. For a company, that means statutory accounts filed at Companies House, the Company Tax Return filed with HMRC and your corporation tax worked out, with the filing dates diarised so you know what's due and when. We're AAT licensed and agree a fixed fee before the work starts.

For limited companies, sole traders and partnerships

What we prepare
and file.

We prepare your accounts from your records, check them with you and handle the filings included in your fee. For a limited company that means Companies House and HMRC; sole traders and partnerships don't file at Companies House, but need year-end figures for their tax return. Either way, once your records reach us you'll know the deadlines, the tax due and the date it's due well before the payment date.

Statutory accounts
Prepared to the standard your company size requires and filed at Companies House on time.
Company Tax Return
The CT600 and computations filed with HMRC, with corporation tax calculated and explained.
Confirmation statement and reminders
Where agreed, we keep your Companies House record up to date and remind you of the filing dates we look after.

Understanding your tax bill earlier

Know the numbers
before the year ends.

The year-end is the last step, not the first. When we keep your bookkeeping and payroll through the year, the accounts are largely done by the time the year closes, and we can tell you the tax to put aside as you go.

If you'd like figures more often, we prepare management accounts monthly or quarterly: sales, costs, profit and cash, in a format you can actually read. We can also prepare cash-flow forecasts and talk through tax planning suited to your circumstances.

Year-end accounts

Your questions,
answered.

When are my company accounts and tax return due?

For most private limited companies, annual accounts go to Companies House nine months after the year end, the Company Tax Return goes to HMRC twelve months after, and any corporation tax is due nine months and one day after the year end. We diarise all three and agree when we need your records, so the work starts in good time.

Can't I just send you everything once a year?

You can, and some clients do. But the year-end is only as good as the records behind it. If the books are tidy through the year, your accounts are quicker and less stressful to prepare, and we can tell you what tax to expect well before it's due.

Will you explain what the accounts actually mean?

Yes. We sit down with you, in person or on a call, and go through the figures in plain English: what you made, what the company owes, what you can take out and what to put aside. The most common misunderstanding we see is treating turnover, or company money, as if it were profit.

Do you do accounts for sole traders and partnerships too?

Yes. Sole traders and partnerships don't file at Companies House, but you still need year-end figures for your tax return. Sole traders and landlords whose qualifying income is above the Making Tax Digital threshold also send quarterly updates through software; HMRC has not yet set a start date for partnerships. We prepare the accounts and file the return. See our Self Assessment service for the detail.

What are management accounts?

Regular figures during the year, usually monthly or quarterly, showing sales, costs, profit and cash, so you can make decisions with real numbers rather than waiting for the year-end. We prepare them for clients who want to keep a closer eye on the business, and agree the format and frequency with you.

Year-end coming up, or overdue?

Tell us your year-end date and how the records stand. We'll explain what's needed and agree a fixed fee.
